Washington Freedom

Wambach is an American soccer player, Olympic gold medalist and a coach. She played college soccer at the University of Florida. From 2009 to 2010, she played for Washington Freedom, a club she had also played at from 2002 to 2003. In 2011 she played for Magic Jack football club.

The 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup tournament was hosted by China. However, the first match was between Germany and Argentina in Shanghai. During the game, Germany beat Argentina 11-0 to set a record of highest scoring match in Women's World cup history. During the match Smisek, Lingor, and Prinz scored a hat trick each.

Since the Women's World cup started, U.S.A and China has hosted the tournament on two occasions. U.S.A hosted the tournament in 1999 and in 2003, after the tournament was moved to the U.S following the 2003 SARS outbreak in China.
